Porsche executives have stated that the Detroit Auto Show was deliberately chosen to launch the convertible versions of the 911 Carrera and Carrera S models. The reason for choosing the North American International Auto Show to launch the new models is simple. North America is the location that Porsche sells the most cabriolet models so why not cater to your strengths? It does sound strange saying that as for the past couple of years Porsche has not even set up a booth at NAIAS stating that the show didn’t target their key demographics.
Since the 2012 cabriolets are based off of the 9th generation 911 hard tops, which were announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September.
