If you own a Porsche, especially an older one, you probably have heard of the Rennsport Reunion 2011 to held October 14-16 at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. The 1959 Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (previously known as Laguna Seca Raceway) is a ribbon smooth racing track which hosts national auto racing and motorcycle racing events. You can find this track located near the towns of Salinas and Monterey, California, USA and just east of the local airport.
From start to finish the track weaves with s-curves, hairpins turns and straightaways to precisely cover 2.238 miles (3.602 km). At the same time climbs and descends a 300 foot (91 m) elevation change. The curves, hill climbs, descents is well documented in practically ever single race car book, magazine, historical event and racing game ever made. The track complete itself with eleven turns, passing under a foot bridge and climbing up a hill, then winding down to include the famous “Corkscrew” at Turns 8 and 8A, to the starting/finish line. This track is used mainly for NASA, SCCA, Superkarts, and American LeMans, but it is also used for the Skip Barber racing school and automotive racing exhibitions such as Rennsport Reunion IV.
The name Laguna Seca is Spanish for “dry lake”. The track is built from the top of hillsides, Turns 6 and 7, to the etched sides of the hills all the way around the lake. Today, you can find an artificial pond at the center of the track . At Turns 1, 2, 3, and 4 and is the lowest of elevations
, drivers fly around performing some tricky maneuvers. It is around these curves where you can eye level enough to see some Porsches ride on just three wheels.
Three famous racers get infamous curves named after them at Laguna Seca. They are Bobby Rahal, Mario Andretti and motorcycle legend Wayne Rainey.
The Rennsport Reunion IV 2011 will be having their Porsche event this coming year in California and personally see them. Many of these are spend there current lives as museum pieces while there are others that have clocked track time strutting for fans gripping tires to pavement and engine revving. Expect to find Gmünds, Glöcklers, 356, 550s, 718s, 804s, 904s, 911RS, 916, 917, 935, 945, 962, Abarths and many one-offs. While looking at these $100,000+ units, see if you recognize any historical corporate level sponsors from companies like ELF, Shell, Martini, Rothsman, Mobil, Lowenbrau, Marlboro, Cibie, Dunlop, Bosche, Texaco, BBS, Firestone, Pirelli, Lobro, Mahle and Momo. Also, look for racing car tuners of various makes and models, drivers both active and retired, writers, shop owners, and tuners.
What is Rennsport? Rennsport, derived from Racing Sport is an optional racing modification for street legal cars. For example, in terms of the 911, this street car would obtain the bolt on options of getting to be lightened, and then through parts end up being modified. Working or not, tucked away in some late aunt’s garage, and it says Porsche 911RS on its rear truck hood, please be sure contact me immediately.
There is a lot of information regarding Rennsport on the net. Sites such as “World Car Fans” have a very in-depth perspective of the Rennsport Automobiles. Be sure to take a quick look at their page. In the same turn, Porsche Race Car Classic has worked extensively with both teams and owners of many of these hard to find automobiles. Please take some time to visit their site and support their very worthy cause.
Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca teamed with Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV. The huge event will all take place the weekend of October 14 – 16, 2011. This is so much of an event, if you bring a Porsche you yourself can be part of the show. Doors open at 7AM so set your alarm at 5AM so you don’t miss out. Once inside you will find the kaleidoscope array of vintage, street and race cars. There will be a concourse d’elegance, invited racing, driver talks, signatures, foods, tech talk, parts, sales, historical notation, and additional legendary 911 race cars just everywhere. The moneys collected will directly support lung cancer research while you get to feast all things of excellence.

I would like to express my thanks to the writer just for bailing me out of this situation. As a result of exploring through the world-wide-web and meeting tricks which are not powerful, I figured my entire life was well over. Existing devoid of the answers to the problems you have sorted out as a result of your main blog post is a serious case, as well as the kind that might have in a negative way damaged my entire career if I had not encountered the website. Your own talents and kindness in taking care of every item was excellent. I am not sure what I would have done if I hadn’t come upon such a stuff like this. Hello! ceekeke interesting ceekeke site! I’m really like it! Very, very ceekeke good!
Quite frankly it annoys me to read this stuff. I get irritated when I hear people saying “I would love to work in racing but you need to be rich”, or “I would love to work in racing but you have to have a degree”. The list goes on. It’s all nonsense. The people who told them that don’t work in racing. People in racing know that all sorts of people work in the industry and the only thing that stops you getting the job of your dreams is if you give up. Most people give up far too easily and normally after reading or listening to someone who knows less about it than they do!^

What a lot of people don’t realize, is that there are many others that don’t have degrees or big funds winning racing. A good example might be the long time records held by Indian Motorcycle speedster Bert Monroe, who had nothing more than a shoestring budget and a tinkerer sense of trial and error, and his ability to make parts from scratch.
I am not sure if you went to Rennsport Reunion IV 2011, but to tell you the truth, the sport wasn’t all those rare one of a kind cars that were down in the Paddock, but rather all those cars in the parking lots. If some of these people can understand one basic thing about collecting cars, racing and even more, it has to be summed up in this one statement.
“Driving (Racing) is 1/100th of the work, 99/100 is the mechanics.” So when they to an event like Rennsport, they should reflect on themselves, not the unobtainable museum pieces that are worth a half a million dollars.
My favorite thing is when you get experts who have been in the business for decades saying stuff like, “In all my time, I’ve been in this business, I’ve never seen this particular situation”. That is the beauty of it all, its the factor that there is more variables than anyone can shake a stick at.
